The health officials of India confirmed that the second wave in India is worse than the first as the Covid-19 cases are increasing at an alarmingly high rate. The continued increase in infections is overburdening the health systems, both Public and Private.  The health machinery of the state and central governments is facing challenges in screening and treating COVID patients more particularly in rural areas. There is a shortage of nurses, doctors and limitations of village front-line workers. In this crisis, ensuring basic care for the communities by taking befitting measures seems to be the need of the hour to ease the unnecessary burden on the hospitals and its resources.

In response to this health emergency, NICE has come up with a solution to contribute to manage and ease the crises through primary care in the rural and tribal regions in accessing COVID health care and providing door step COVID care right at the village level.

NICE Foundation is providing services and shall continue to provide awareness, monitoring and solutions for  COVID prevention and recovery of affected patients in 1000 intenvention villages of Srikakulam, Paderu and Vizianagaram Districts in Andhra Pradesh with a population range covering approximately 4,46,548 people.

Through this program NICE is deploying Village Health Monitors (VHM) who are trained to screen and provide personal protection and drug kit. They monitor mildly symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-patients in home isolation.  In addition to this, the VHM is conducting awareness programs for safety and pro-vaccination agendas.  The VHM and Field Monitor are working closely with the community heads and Panchyat Raj Institution (PRI) to implement plans to mitigate the spread of the virus. Activities are focused on creating community awareness of facts relating to COVID-19 while dispelling myths and misconceptions.
