Ending Stigma, Ensuring Care

In collaboration with Primary Health Centre (PHC) staff and frontline health workers, the CHIP-SVL team conducted community-wide awareness sessions. The program initiative included:

  • Educational sessions to reduce the long-standing social stigma associated with leprosy
  • Teaching community members to identify early symptoms and skin patches
  • Engaging students through school-based health awareness programs
  • Public rallies to promote inclusive support for those affected
  • Directing suspected cases to government facilities for free diagnosis and treatment

Through these collaborative efforts, we reinforced the message that leprosy is curable and that early medical intervention is key to preventing disability and ensuring a dignified life.
